- Advance Tree Structure Assessment - The ‘second level' check where diagnostic tools such as a resistograph and sonic tomographs to further confirm internal defects on trees. A resistograph is used to measure the relative density of wood in trees and timber structures. Generally, decayed wood would offer less resistance when drilling into the tree's trunk. A sonic tomography is used to measure the thickness of the residual wall of trees by studying the speed of sound travels through the wood. Generally, sound travels slower through decayed wood than healthy wood.
